Lower School Academics

Our curriculum blends books which we have found work well in the hybrid setting.  For example, the PK-2nd grade Language Arts curriculum is a combination of Abeka and Wilson to give our youngest students a strong basis for reading.   PK-2nd grade Mathematics is a combination of Abeka which then leads into Saxon Math in 3rd-8th. Our religious instruction will consist of the Faith and Life series.

Language

As a recognized leader in multisensory, structured language programs, Wilson Fundations makes learning to read fun while laying the groundwork for life-long literacy.

Science

Harcourt along with Apologia provides students with a solid foundation in the sciences and also gives them the tools to evaluate scientific data on their own.

Writing

Institute for Excellence in Writing guides the students through the art of composition starting in 4th grade.  Writing our Catholic Faith and Spelling Workout are additional writing resources.

History

Art projects fused into a history curriculum gives students an opportunity to learn through various styles

Mathematics

Abeka and Saxon are the main programs. Montessori materials are used to supplement in K - 3rd grade.

Cross & Heart

Faith

Faith and Life series books reinforce the Catholic teachings.

Kindergarten Readiness

St. John the Baptist Hybrid School does require testing prior to kindergarten.  Parents may want to prepare their child for kindergarten by using the Kindergarten Readiness Checklist and working with their child in deficient areas as needed prior to matriculation.  The Georgia Department of Education provides many resources for parents to prepare their children for kindergarten at their GKIDS Readiness Check website.
